" What is work for?"
If it is to get the job done then indeed get a chain saw. If however it is to connect with nature ; to know the tree and the rhythms it asks of our bodies. then lets use our hands our arms our feet our lungs.
"You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth.
For to be idle is to become a stranger to the seasons,----
When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music"

Stealing the common back for the goose
17th Century folk poem
Stealing The Common From The Goose
Who steals the goose off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from the goose.
The law demands that we atone
When we take things we do not own
But leaves the lords and ladies fine
Who takes things that are yours and mine.
The poor and wretched don’t escape
If they conspire the law to break;
This must be so but they endure
Those who conspire to make the law.
The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
And geese will still a common lack
Till they go and steal it back.
